About:

Cursebound Castle is a fast-paced 2D action-defense game where you take on the role of a lone warrior guarding a cursed castle and its princess from an onslaught of monstrous creatures. As night falls and waves of dark beings emerge - from hulking cyclopes and venomous spiders to spectral ghosts and spell-wielding mages - your mission is clear: defend the castle at all costs. Armed only with a spear and your courage, you must hold your ground atop the castle walls and face increasingly deadly threats in a world where survival is as much about power as it is about precision.

How To Play:

You begin the game stationed on top of the castle with a spear as your weapon. Waves of enemies will approach from the ground, each with different traits: some are slow but resilient, others fast and fragile, while mages can cast powerful spells. Use your spear to kill these creatures before they reach the castle. Each kill restores a bit of your castle’s health, but if an enemy reaches the wall, it will damage the castle. Eliminating a mage grants you a "death power" - an ability that wipes out all enemies near the castle. With each wave you survive, your rank increases, unlocking harder challenges and faster-paced battles.

Jams & Themes:

The game masterfully blends the “defend the castle” theme with high-stakes action, putting the player in a constant state of alert as wave after wave of enemies threaten the princess's sanctuary. The castle becomes both your shield and your weakness - its health is your primary concern. The “power” theme is introduced through progression and magical elements: your increasing rank symbolizes growing strength and mastery, while the "death power spell" you gain from slaying mages gives you godlike control for a moment, turning the tide in desperate situations. These themes intertwine to create a gripping and rewarding gameplay loop where strategy, timing, and decisive use of power are key to victory.

Why Multiple Jams?

You might ask why I participate and submit games in multiple jams at a time. The reason is, it gives more exposure to my games and also makes it more challenging for me to develop a game based on multiple jam themes and rules.
