Boxed Truth
A game made by Anagh's World for Mini Jam 188: Mystery (Limitation: All in a box)
For better experience, play in FULLSCREEN and with HEADSETS.
Plot:
You're a detective trapped inside a single, silent room - a box with locked exits and no answers. But this box holds more than it seems. Hidden within it are five layered mysteries, each revealing fragments of a larger truth. Clues appear, questions follow, and choices must be made. Only by solving all five mysteries - one after another - can you hope to escape. This room is your puzzle, your prison, and your only path to freedom.
How To Play:
You're trapped in a single mysterious room (the "box") and must figure out what happened, and how to get out by examining clues hidden inside the box. Use the arrow keys or WASD to move around the room. Try to find clues inside the room. Once a clue is found, try to memorize it, since it will not appear again. After discovering all clues, one of the door lock unlocks. Enter the door to face a final question based on the clues you've read. Select the correct answer to move on to the next mystery. Solve all five mysteries to unlock all five locks of the door and then escape the room. One wrong answer resets the current level - so read carefully and choose wisely.
Controls:
- Arrow Keys/WASD to move
- LMB to select options
- Esc to go back/quit
- Touch Support - this game can be played on Mobile as well
Jam & Theme:
The game fully embraces the theme of Mystery by placing the player in a confined space with no context, no instructions, and only fragments of information hidden within the room. Each chapter presents a self-contained whodunit, challenging players to piece together clues, interpret subtle hints, and solve a final riddle to progress. The limitation "All in a Box" is realized both literally and conceptually — all five mysteries unfold entirely within the same boxed-in room, recontextualized with each new chapter. There are no new scenes or expanded worlds — just one room, constantly reshaped by the secrets it hides.
